And it seems like it's never just one thing that goes wrong. But having to have a return ticket is such a pain. I'm a little surprised they let you board in the US without it, usually the carrier checks that you have a return flight or an extended visa first. I've had to do some explaining several times (when I already had a visa), and once actually had to buy an expensive (but refundable) return ticket before they'd let me board. No fun.
